GuitarTricks.com has been offering guitar lesson videos online since 1998. No other site offering online guitar lessons has even close to the amount of content. The site offers a free membership to anyone that signs up. The free membership includes 24 lessons for getting started.
Full access to the entire site and all of the lessons are available for $14.95 a month. Considering what other sites charge and the amount of content Guitar Tricks offers, that's a great price. With the full access membership students have access to the full Guitar Tricks curriculum which includes eight interconnected courses with a total of 1500 lessons.
The videos on the site are very good quality and the lessons that don't have video do have audio samples. One of our favorite features included with many of the lessons is the overlay of a graphic that shows you what note is being played and when to play that note. We haven't seen any other site that offers this and it can be very helpful when trying to learn a really tricky phrase or lick.
One of the more impressive aspects of GuitarTricks.com is not how many lessons they offer but the amount of detail that the lessons go into. In the techniques section alone students can find lessons for the following topics:
Alternate Picking, B-Bender Usage, B-Bender Emulation, Bending - Blues, Bending - Country, Bending - Rock, Classical Fingerpicking, Double Stop, Fingerpicking, Hammer-Ons, Harmonics Overview, Harmonics - Pinched, Harmonics - Natural, Hybrid Picking, Legato, Muting: Left Hand, Muting: Right Hand, Pedal Tone, Popping, Pull-offs, Rolls, Slide Guitar, Slap Guitar, Sweeping Picking, Tapping, Tapping - Touch technique, Tremolo, Vibrato and more.
New!
The site recently added the addition of the Jam Station. There are 150 tracks in the Jam Station and they are adding more every month. The Jam Station provides backing tracks for you to play along with. This can be so useful when you don't have any musicians to jam with and you don't feel like just jamming by yourself.
Suitable For:
All levels:
Beginner , Intermediate , Advanced , Professional.
Beginner level also suitable for Children of 8 years and above.
We give GuitarTricks.com 4 out of 5 stars. The shear amount of content and value of the membership for the low monthly cost makes this a great choice for anyone wanting to learn guitar online.
